Abbas Hasham fights for position in the box as the corner comes in during Gymhana’s 5 – 3 defeat by Mozambique Stars.
With only a few days to go before the transfer deadline, African sensation Mohamedali “Monty” Karim, is shipped off to Gymkhana after a bust-up with his former AFC Leopards team mates during their 4-1 defeat by Manama FC.
The four way trade also involves Tahir “TJ” Jaffer making his way to Gymkhana with strikers Abbas Hasham and Nabil Jetha crossing the Sahara to AFC Leopards.
Gymkhana gaffer Munawarali Najafi was quoted as saying “as soon as I heard that AFC Leopards wanted Monty out, I was straight on the dog and bone with Jaffer [AFC Leopards boss] trying to make things happen. He who dares wins.”
“I wanted a straight swap with Abbas Hasham as his goal return for me this year has been appalling, four goals in nine games just doesn’t cut the mustard when you’re at Gymkhana.”
“But Jaffer insisted on taking newbie Nabil Jetha, Jetha’s movement off the ball has been compared to Chicharito in some quarters, you never know where he’s going to pop-up.”
Mohamedali Karim was unavailable for comment on his high profile move as there had been rumours he was in talks with Gor Mahia just before this trade went through. The player himself was allegedly pushing for a move to Gor Mahia be reunited with his old pal and player-manager Jabir Alidina.
Abbas Hasham was ecstatic about the move. “I’ve always wanted to play for AFC Leopards ever since I was a young lad, I had posters of the Leopards on my wall at home and I want to make the fans proud.”
AFC Leopards boss Shahid Jaffer said “I’m looking to freshen the side up, I need players who want to be a part of the Leopards culture and will play for the team.”
