Sticky situation... David de Gea
Mozambique Stars goalkeeper Faraaz Fazel, thought to be the best shot stopper in the league, has been caught pinching a doughnut worth just $1.19.
The young keeper was picked up by security guards when trying to leave a Loblaws in Scarborough, after he was caught helping himself to a treat from the Krispy Kreme cabinet.
After devouring the snack in the magazine aisle, he then attempted to leave the supermarket without paying, but was stopped by the security guards, one of whom spoke fluent Swahili.
The former Pharoahs keeper, signed yesterday by Mozambique Stars in a 6-man transfer, was taken to the ‘stop and search’ room and given a caution, managing to escape any further fines.
Fazel strode into Loblaws with two pals.
A source said: “They weren’t very subtle. They swaggered in chatting loudly.
“The security guards who monitor the CCTV watched two of them take a doughnut each out of the Krispy Kreme cabinet.
“Incredibly, they then appeared to try to leave without paying — or buying anything else for that matter.”
The source said that when challenged and ushered into the search room, Fazel did not seem to know what was going on and “looked pretty embarrassed”.
A spokesman on behalf of the supermarket told reporters: “A customer was spoken to by our security team and the issue was resolved.”
